During a speech in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump appeared to fall to the ground, prompting armed security staff to surround him.

Reports indicate that gunshots were fired at the rally, and the former president was quickly rushed off-stage by his security team. Trump remained on the ground for about a minute before standing up and raising his fist in the air. He was then escorted off the stage and into a waiting vehicle, which quickly left the scene.

Video footage appeared to show blood on Trump’s ear as he was taken away, and he seemed to be clutching the side of his head as he fell.

Republican Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio reacted on the social media platform X, saying, “Everyone join me in praying for our President Trump and everyone at that rally. I hope everyone is ok.”

The US Secret Service has confirmed that Donald Trump is “safe” and that protective measures have been implemented around the former president. An investigation has been launched, but further details have not been provided.

“This is now an active Secret Service investigation, and further information will be released when available,” said Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi in a post on X.

Trump’s campaign stated that he is “fine” following the incident. “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” spokesman Steven Cheung said. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”

The White House has confirmed that President Joe Biden has received an “initial briefing” on the incident.
