Kylian Mbappé remains unfazed by media speculation surrounding a potential rape allegation, according to his coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
The 25-year-old trained with his Real Madrid teammates on Friday, despite reports of being under criminal investigation in Stockholm. Mbappé’s representatives have condemned the media coverage as “irresponsible,” while his legal team insists the allegations are false.
“I speak to the players every day, and like I said before, these are all speculations. Mbappé is working well, he’s happy, and I don’t see any impact on him,” Ancelotti said.
Swedish prosecutors confirmed a rape report was filed regarding an incident at the hotel where Mbappé stayed but did not name any suspects.
Mbappé had briefly visited Stockholm during his time off from club duties. Addressing the player’s personal time, Ancelotti said, “Players can choose how they spend their days off. I spent two days in London, and I didn’t need permission. I don’t manage anyone’s travel plans.”
The French star will return to the pitch on Saturday when Real Madrid face Celta Vigo in La Liga. Mbappé, who injured his thigh in late September, missed only one game before returning as a substitute in Madrid’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Lille.
