Dervied from the names of “Microsoft” and “NBC,” this news channel is broadcasted in United States, Canada, South Africa, Germany and Middle East. It was founded on July 15, 1996, as a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC unit of General Electric (now NBCUniversal), but later Microsoft’s stake was reduced to zero.
