Libya is marking a powerful return to the continental sports stage as it hosts the 46th African Men’s Volleyball Clubs Championship in Misrata — a significant milestone for a nation striving toward stability and renewal.

The tournament brings together 23 clubs from nine countries, including Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, and Kenya, transforming the refurbished Misrata International Sports Hall into a vibrant arena of competition and continental unity. Over 1,500 security and medical personnel are on-site, underscoring Libya’s commitment to safety and professionalism.

Jean-Claude Maupita, President of the tournament’s Control Committee, lauded the host nation’s efforts:

“The organization is very good. The level of play is also impressive.”

For Libyans, the event is more than just volleyball — it’s a symbol of resilience and national pride.

“My son and I came early to support our team,” said one local supporter. “It’s a moment we’ve waited for.”

Looking ahead, Libya is also preparing to host the Arab Volleyball Championship in 2026, signaling its broader ambition to rebuild its image and strengthen regional ties through sport.

As teams battle for the championship, Libya is sending a clear message: it is back — stronger, safer, and ready to lead again.
